True tales from a musical Jack of all trades.

Featuring lots of CLE/NEO and personal alternative music history! Marky Ray (ex-Jim Rose Circus, The Lyres, Death Of Samantha, others) will read from his book, Rock and Roll Mercenary, a story-laden layman's guide on how-to crawl your way into the music business. A 40 year veteran of the entertainment industry, Professor Ray takes the time to explain how you too can find a way to tour, work and survive "the Biz". Chock full of funny anecdotes, music history, and pictures galore, as well as production management and touring technician protocol; his book is essential reading for anyone trying to break into the musical entertainment field. Other bands he has worked with include: Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, The Pagans, Toadies, The Cramps, Human Switchboard, Humble Pie, and Lollapalooza 1991-92. Marky will bring plenty of pics, posters and fliers, from his extensive collection of memorabilia to share with the audience. With Q&A immediately following the presentation.

Books will be available for purchase, courtesy of the author.

About the branch

The Beachwood Branch first opened to the public on October 31, 1982. At the time, it was the first branch in the CCPL system to have an automated circulation system. Located just a few hundred yards from the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, the branch offers a drive-up window where customers can pick up requested materials, dedicated spaces for kids and teens, and a beautiful outdoor reading garden.
