In this hands-on culinary program, participants will discover the essential ingredients and cooking techniques that make Thai curry both a comforting yet remarkably complex dish. It is praised for striking a perfect balance between salty, sweet, sour, and spicy. Together with a librarian, participants will prepare a traditional Thai red curry from scratch and have the opportunity to taste the finished dish served with white rice. Along the way, we’ll share cultural insights, cooking tips, and cookbook recommendations.
Whether you’re a beginner home cook or a seasoned foodie, all are welcome to join us on this delicious journey into Thai cuisine.
Bonus: the curry is vegetarian-friendly!
Ingredients include the following: rehydrated puya or New Mexico chilies, rehydrated bird's eye chilies, white pepper, black pepper, lemongrass, galangal, ginger, garlic, fresh cilantro, fresh lime leaves, shallots, fermented shrimp paste, ground coriander, avocado oil, coconut milk, fish sauce, palm sugar, red bell pepper, white onion, Thai basil leaves, and squash.
This is a high-demand program with limited seating. All customers that register will automatically be added to the waitlist. Customers who have not attended a high-demand program at the Fairview Park branch in the past 90 days receive priority and will be officially registered based on their registration date/time. All remaining seats will be filled based on registration date/time.

The Fairview Park Branch originally operated out of a small storefront on Lorain Road. Today, the building is large enough to support a book capacity of 147,000 volumes. The branch also features a beautiful travel-themed children’s area complete with a miniature Eiffel Tower and airplanes, and an Innovation Center maker space.
